Wolves Shock Warriors, 124-117!
In maybe the closest thing we've seen to playoff caliber basketball in Minnesota since the Kevin Garnett era, the Minnesota Timberwolves (26-52) took down the defending champion Golden State Warriors (69-9) 124-117 this Tuesday night in dramatic overtime fashion. Shabazz Muhammad proved to Sam Mitchell what a relentless scorer he can be from the left block, pouring in 35 points off the bench on only 12 shots from the field. Additionally, both Andrew Wiggins and Karl-Anthony Towns played as confident as we've seen thus far, scoring 32 and 20 a piece - the latter tallying another double-double to his impressive rookie resume (is there any chance he's NOT the rookie of the year at this point?). Apple Valley phenom Tyus Jones came off the bench and played exceptionally well, boasting a +19 in the +/- column and providing some desperately needed structure for the offense while the starters rest. Known around the league as a young team with endless amounts of potential throughout the roster, this victory may be exactly what the team needed to rally around heading into the offseason.
