NHL Playoffs; Don't Drown The Sharks Just Yet!
The Stanley Cup Finals are in full effect, as the Pittsburgh Penguins jumped out to an early 2-0 lead to defend the Consol Energy Center in the first two games of action. Defensive cycles, turnovers, and a lack of powerplay opportunities (3 total in 2 games) have all been problematic for the Sharks. Incredible neutral zone play and faceoff domination by the likes of Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins is the story on the other side. Are the Sharks finished?
Only 12.7 percent of the NHL teams have blown a 2-0 lead in playoff history. Statistics of yesteryear aside, the San Jose Sharks are 7-2 at home this postseason. Will an energetic home crowd be able to speed up the Sharks and steal back a few games to make it a series?
