2015-16 Warriors Chasing 1995-96 Bulls - The Road to 73 Wins
Our Minnesota Timberwolves (22-48) fell to the defending champion Golden State Warriors (63-7) Monday night, losing in competitive fashion 109-104. As impressive as a loss can be, (holding the reigning MVP Stephen Curry to only 19 points on 8-17 shooting is no small task) the loss still catapults our hometown team towards another 50+ loss season. Alternatively, it pushes the Golden State Warriors one step closer towards 73 wins.
What does 73 wins in one season mean? Beating the 1995-96 Chicago bulls single season win record, of course. As it currently stands, the Golden State Warriors are on pace to have the best regular season record in NBA history, putting them in conversations with the likes of not only Michael Jordan, Dennis Rodman, and Scottie Pippen's Bulls of the 90's, but Magic Johnson's 1971-72 Los Angeles Lakers, and Julius Erving's 1982-83 Philadelphia 76ers. Will Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green be sharing their company soon? With only 12 regular season games left, it is entirely possible.
