Minnesota Duluth Making History
Minnesota Duluth is heading to another National Championship. This is their third straight title game appearance in as many years. That has not been done since Boston College did it from 2006-2008. Scott Sandelin has quickly put Duluth on the map and with his recent success. The defensive system that they have running right now is the best in the country, maybe one of the best ever. A loaded defensive core with the likes of Dylan Samberg of Hermantown, Scott Perunovich of Hibbing, Nick Wolff of Eagan, Louie Roehl of Eden Prairie and goaltender Hunter Shepard of Grand Rapids just to name a few all have been playing at elite levels and could make history Saturday night with back to back national championships.
Minnesota hockey has been a big topic this season with 3 of the 5 Minnesota schools getting #1 seeds in their respective regions. Minnesota Duluth however was the only team to survive the first weekend. Minnesota State Mankato and St. Cloud State both got upset in there tournament openers. With NHL blue chips in Samberg and Perunovich only in their sophomore seasons, Duluth could be back next year as well.
