In the West, we have the Golden State Warriors (#2 Seed) taking on the Houston Rockets (#1 Seed).  Game 1 between the two offensive juggernauts took place yesterday (5/14/18), where the Warriors came out on top 119-106.  Though it was close at halftime, the Warriors went on a trademark third quarter run to take the Rockets out of the game.  James Harden and Kevin Durant were dueling, scoring 41 and 37 points respectively.  The big difference maker was Klay Thompson - hitting 6 threes to give the Warriors too much fire power for the Rockets to handle.  Charles Barkley, NBA Hall of Famer and TNT analyst, made a prediction earlier today that the Warriors will SWEEP the Rockets.  Not only that, but he joked that the Warriors will win in 3!  If this is the case, it will be the fourth year in a row that Golden State makes it to the NBA Finals.

Meanwhile in the East, the Boston Celtics (#2 Seed) clawed their way through the first two rounds to face off against the Cleveland Cavaliers (#4 Seed), despite injuries to their top two players during the regular season (Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward).  Many believe that Celtics coach Brad Stevens was snubbed from receiving the Coach of the Year award, as the Toronto Raptors' Dwayne Casey was selected instead.  The Celtics steamrolled the Cavaliers in game one, winning 108-83 in dominant fashion.  Though it appears that we could finally see a different team to represent the East in the Finals this year, LeBron James was quoted saying that game one of each series is generally a feel-out game for him.  He will need a lot of help from his bench if he has any chance of facing off against Stephen Curry and company to compete for the title.
